This past weekend several new teachers all got together and we went to Ski Dubai. I felt like I was back in Utah...well sorta. It was so neat to be able to be laying out by the pool earlier that morning and then to be playing in the snow that afternoon. I am for sure taking all of my visitors to Ski Dubai!
Some days I think I am a bit crazy for doing this...keep up with me and read about my adventures as I try to conquer the Middle East!

My first month in the middle east...
I arrived in Dubai on August 17th after several delays in Houston and DC. I'm not going to recap them...but I official will not fly Continental ever again. After a 17 hour flight I was greeted at the airport by two Administrators from my new school, the American School of Dubai. Once I got to my new apartment it was filled with all of my boxes and some goodies provided by the school. Of course, I was hungry and walked down below to the strip mall near by apartment and had my first meal in Dubai, Wendy's. hehehe....I don't care, it was GOOD!
Over the past few weeks all of us newbies, 40 to be exact, have had to conquer lots of obstacles to become residences of the UAE. Wow, so weird to hear myself say that I am actually a resident of the UAE. Anyway, I can officially say I can legally drive here, drink, have internet, and a CELL PHONE!! I also just bought myself a toast yesterday...yay! I know so dorky, but sometimes the little things that remind you of home mean the most. My apartment is SLOWLY coming together, but I have the important things such as a bed and a couch. I have lots of windows in my apartment so I have construction paper as drapes...one thing at a time. :) I also have a CAR, well a rental. His name is Mo and he a white Yaris...also known as a freaking go-cart.
As for school I will be teaching 3rd grade and so far it is fabulous. I really am enjoying my students and I am part of a great team. Also I am done teaching everyday at 1pm, so you will not be hearing any complaining from me. :)
Night life.... :) lets just say....its GREAT! I'm having tons of fun here, maybe sometimes a little too much fun. Also I've already gone on my first trip to Oman and it was just beautiful there.
Over all life in Dubai is going really well. I'm actually surprising myself and thinking maybe I could be here a little longer then expected...
xoxo
